Image resizing

The right image, at the right size.

Your app keeps one large image; each device gets a copy at its size in a lighter format. Results are kept, so the second request is not made again.

What you get

  • Size, crop and quality

Width, height, how it fits and where it crops, at the quality you set.

  • WebP and AVIF

Conversion to lighter formats, from JPEG, PNG and GIF. Phone photos are turned the right way up.

  • Next.js and Astro

The Next.js image component works with no setup, and our build connects Astro's Image component.

  • Allowed sources only

The app's own files and the HTTPS hosts you allow; never any address at all. Source images up to 20 MB.

  • Cached results

Each transformation is made once and kept for your team; the cache size depends on the plan.

  • Walled off

Images are decoded in a separate, locked-down service with no network. A bad file cannot reach anything else.

One address for every size

/_img on every app, and /_next/image for Next.js with no setup.

<img src="/_img?url=/photos/hero.jpg&w=800&q=75" alt="">
<!-- WebP or AVIF, by what the browser accepts -->

Per thousand transformations

Only a new transformation is billed; a copy served from the cache is not one. On Hobby, past the monthly amount, images are sent as the originals and the site keeps working.
